State Senator Jim Marzilli was honored at the Boston Center for Independent Living (BCIL) Marie Feltin Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 20. The BCIL Award Ceremony honored individuals and institutions who exemplified the pioneering spirit of the late Dr. Marie Feltin, a tireless advocate for disabled and chronically ill patients. The BCIL provides services to and advocates for equality and dignity of people with disabilities.
"Jim is a leader on numerous human service issues. He has been in the forefront of legislation to develop state programs and policies in line with the Supreme Court Olmstead decision guaranteeing the rights to long term care in community based settings for people with disabilities, including the elderly," said BCIL Director Bill Henning. "Jim truly deserves this award and we are proud to acknowledge his continuing commitment and hard work on behalf of our constituents."
